Author’s Note

'Kolanut Tells His Story' is a celebration of Igbo culture and the living tradition of the kola nut ceremony. As authors, we wanted to give voice to the Kolanut itself—a symbol so rich in meaning yet often overlooked in mainstream storytelling.
Through imagination and humour, the tale draws on our communal heritage, reminding us that even the smallest things—like a humble nut—carry deep power when wrapped in tradition.
May this story be a bridge: for the young and old, the diaspora and those at home, to gather, learn, laugh, and remember who we are. May it spark questions, inspire conversations, and be passed along like the Kolanut itself—shared with honour, broken with love. Ndewo*.
* "Ndewo" is a greeting in Igbo, a language spoken in Nigeria. It means "hello" or "welcome".
